Coffee is over, Monday morning can start! Beakers and cups are handthrown from white porcelain to test some colors for something: I do not remember what is was: Around fifteen years ago my ceramic world was colorful for a short time. And still I have these pieces in use… #ceramics #coffee #morning #handmade #pottery #artist #espresso #colors #yellow #pink #blue #porcelain #craft #past #zurich #switzerland #elegant #simple #funny #goodmorning #mondaymorning #modern #contemporaryart Likes: [igp-likes]... 18 Februar, 2019
Back to stoneware: I started with new coffee cups in two sizes – the ones on the photo are hand thrown and coated with a matte light green glaze. This time I will make light blue ones and lavender ones – fourty pieces for Sai’s restaurant and some more for my shop in Zurich. Love making them! #ceramics #ceramic #coffee #coffeecup #flatwhite #green #blue #lavender #pottery #restaurant #simple #minimalism #lifestyle #handmade #craft #makersgonnamake #artist #zurich #switzerland #colors #china Likes: [igp-likes]... 07 Juni, 2018

Our house and the studio entrance in 2008. My way to pottery – part 3. For the next three years I was working on that tile production: I bought a first kiln, a lot of clay and other materials and books. I learnt a lot about clay and glazes and temperature, I made a lot of mistakes, too and sometimes it was very frustrating. But I never gave up: The moment, when I opened the door of the kiln was unique and made me forget all the negative feelings. The tiles became part of walls, bathrooms, kitchen, halls, swimming pools and I was very busy. Not only with my architectural projects. As I already wrote I had three littles daughters at that time and: I had another company as well. In 1996 I founded an education and communication company and it grew to a business with more than fifty employees and hundreds of clients who were coming and going the whole day. So I balanced between three stages for years. The ceramic studio was the only place where I was a little moment for myself and I needed it – and I wanted to go on. That is why I bought a potter’s wheel. I suspected: This would be a challenge – but I did not know at this moment, how challanging it would be in reality….. #ceramics #tea #studio #porcelain #architecture #atelier #pottery #series #colors #handmade #craft #clay #making #simple #countryhouse #project #abstract #perfect #past #zurich #switzerland #art #photo #scene #modern #japan #elegant #korea #china #nature Likes: [igp-likes]... 04 März, 2017

May way to pottery, part 2: Unfortunately the potter class was over after six month. So my teapot was there on a shelve and waited, but: I forgot to pick it up – do you remember? I was seventeen and looking back it seems I had a lot of more important things to do:-). It is a petty, of course, and I would love to have the teapot with me, discussing form and technique just now. But it is gone. Well, for the next ten years I stopped working with clay and pots. I spent all my time at the University, first at the department of Architecture in Zurich, then I changed to the department of Philosophy, studying History of Art and German. Why I changed? I become a quite young mother and I realized that it was impossible to combine the Architecture studies with my newborn baby. Everybody who studied at the Department of Architecture in Zurich, knows why. Btw: I have three daughters. But this is another story. So, the mentioned ten years later, I saw a notice at the University about a potter weekend in the mountains. I decided to go there. It was about Raku. I wanted to make a butter can and this was a very bad idea: Raku is not the best technique for a butter can. Nevertheless it was many years with us and we were amazed about all the fat spots. My husband – still the same as today and the one who takes most of the photos for my instagram feed: Thank you! @gion.andriu.artist – loved this work. But to be honest, I was quite happy when it broke into two because I hated the fat spots …….. I am not Joseph Beuys. Why this butter can was full of fat and dissolved more or less? At this time, I suspected: The pottery seems to be an endless field with a lot of questions. After the teapot and butter can experience I changed the subject: I wanted to create something for the house I built – yes, I was back to Architecture. So I started my third experience with clay: I began with tile production. That was in 1998. #ceramics #tile #gold #stoneware #architecture #artwork #pottery #series #colors #handmade #craft #clay #making #pattern #dots #project #abstract #perfect #contemporaryart #zurich #switzerland #art #photo #scene #modern #japan #elegant #korea #china #exhibition Likes: [igp-likes]... 02 März, 2017
