In the upcoming days I will go back to one of my passion and start with things around tea. It was not always a passion, around twenty years ago I had no idea that teabowls exist….but when I made my first one – as an exercise when I learnt to throw – I started reading uncountable books about tea, tea ceremony, teahouses etc. You might know that I was trained as an architect and philosopher before I started my days behind a potter wheel. So I love reading. I still do. These days I was reading ‚the buried giant‘ by Kazuo Ishiguro. A brilliant book with an unforgettable end….and with a very interesting main topic. Read it! On the photo: A tea bowl in stoneware, hand thrown and coated with an extraordinary black glaze that looks magic. This one is sold – but soon I have new ones available in my studio.
