Porcelain bowl with a golden thread: I am working with the thread since 2002, it is kind of a personal statement. The thread is otren red, sometimes golden or black or in other colors. It gives a direction to my vessels, an accent, something in additional to pottery thing. It was an intuitive decision to give a thread to my work. Happy Easter! Paradise is now: Again one of the red/white porcelain vessels that I made in January on a red/white porcelain plate – both with this matte and powdery surface. Monday morning mood: Two simple white and translucent tea bowls in porcelain, they are waiting for the morning tea in the studio. I have a short way to take from my house to the studio and first thing I do there is making hot water for tea. Then I decide how to start. My ‚mountain‘ studio is not as organized as the one in Zurich, it is completely different here. I am working here in a very old house from the 16th century, it is a darker house, quiet and with views on mountains and small streets. It is interesting how the environment influences my mood and my work. Hope you can get that feeling through the picture? The foots: I am working more than fifteen years on different foot shapes, I made tea bowls as well as big bowls, beakers, mugs, jugs. Most of my ‚Masterpieces’ have a high and small foot – I thought, that was kind of my mark together with the thread…..My ‚master‘, the one who trained me for five years, did not always agree with these foots because the vessels are not easy to use. Late Sunday night: Studioscene. I had to empty the kiln and to fill it again. All the coffee cups in lavender and light blue are ready for sanding, some new vessels for the second plant project, that will start on next Friday, are now in their first firing and the ramen bowls are drying. I have some quite busy weeks behind me and some ahead before I go on holiday for four weeks. Summer time – I love it! Three black porcelain bowls with the red thread on the rim: All hand thrown and unglazed. These are my first bowls that I made with black porcelain and I used them for myself for months – to test how the material will work in use. I put them daily in the dish washer and they look graet still after two years.
