When my daughter finds a tree….I have not a lot of time for ceramics at the moment because I am practicing every day for hours for a concert with our choir that takes place next Saturday and Sunday. I need a lot of concentration – my daughter shows me how to do it. Of course I am still working in the studio but for this week only in the afternoon. I love music and singing and it is a great time at the moment! A simple white porcelain bowl, for example for sugar hearts. The bowl is hand thrown and the inside is coated with a transparent glaze. I like throwing these bowls and I like throwing wih that fine white porcelain, I am working slowly and quiet and I am able to refine the lines; it is a.kind of flow for me. These days I am still working with porcelain and it is a relaxed atmospere in my studio. At home 8: On a Saturday afternoon in February: A green plant in a blue bowl, teabowls and a teapot – the bowl is hand thrown in stoneware and coated with an iceblue craquele glaze. The teabowls are also hand thrown, but in white porcelain. My plant is now more or less ten years old, I bought it when it was very small and it grew up in the last years to this veritable ‚tree‘. Matcha tea bowl on a Monday evening: Waiting for the green powder. I love matcha tea and whenever I find time, I drink it in the late afternoon, it is one of the best accompaniment for me and a constant value like my black coffee in the morning. A teabowl couple in porcelain, a wedding present: Also these two beautiful bowls have a very white and special outside, whitout any glaze. But I polished them several times so they get a kind of smouth, a soft powder finish, very tactile and tender. The bowls are both wheelthrown and high fired so they are hard and translucent. Love this place where I live and work when I am not in Zurich and I already wrote about before: It is a beautiful small village in the South of Switzerland, and there is the old house I am renovating. Actually it is impossible to work there at the moment because – as you can see on the photo – winter arrived, so it is cold in the house because there is no heating. I am working on it until the next winter…..But for photoshootings it is a very good place also in winter – some of the photos I posted recently have been taken there. It is a very quiet and romantic space surrounded by wonderful landscape and very nice people live in the village. There they do not speak German but Italian – and it brings back some memories from my childhood because my father was born in Italy. He died when I was in my twenties and he unfortunately never saw my pottery development. Well, when you travel through Switzerland you maybe stop by – the village is called Soazza and it is near Bellinzona.
