May I introduce? My best work so far: Edition masterpiece, 2015. A tea bowl, handthrown in white porcelain. I was absolutely in love with it. Unfortumately, two years ago, this bowl was sold when I was not in my studio: It was a mistake because I never wanted to sold it. I am still sad when I think about. At least I have this picture: I normally have no problems to let go my work but this bowl was so special for me, I worked for hours on all the lines and I went to my limits and also to the limit of the material – some parts were so thin and they were not broken during the firing. Me, sanding the bottom of the foot of the ramen bowls after the last firing: This was the last step before wrapping them. There are many many steps to do before the transformation from earth to a bowl – for example – is succesfully completed. At home 8: On a Saturday afternoon in February: A green plant in a blue bowl, teabowls and a teapot – the bowl is hand thrown in stoneware and coated with an iceblue craquele glaze. The teabowls are also hand thrown, but in white porcelain. My plant is now more or less ten years old, I bought it when it was very small and it grew up in the last years to this veritable ‚tree‘. Studioscene – me at the potter‘s wheel: These weeks, I will begin with 60 coffee cups and will go on with 20 bigger pots for plants before I start 40 ramen bowls. Throwing is more or less the first step in the producing process. After a short waiting time for about 24 hours you have to trimm all the leatherhard pieces. You let them dry a week or more – depending on the weather and the size of the pieces, the sort of the clay also – before you fill the pieces into the kiln for the first firing. You then glaze them, let them dry another couple of days and put them again in the kiln before they are finished.
