I was looking for something else and found this photo from a beautiful exhibition I had in 2008. One of the works that I chose to show was this quite big bowl, stoneware, handhrown and coated with a blue celadon glaze. Wondering if it is still alive? But I do not even remember the client who bought it….

I need this because sometimes I am a restless and impatient person – at least my husband says so. I am not sure if he is right…..but anyway: The result are many teabowls.

Espresso cups, handthrown in porcelain – I covered the cups with a transparent and a red glaze and was curious what will happen during firing: That is the result. Regarding aesthetics, I am not yet sure if I like it or not – but I am certain: To drink my strong black coffee out of them is great!

Vase – handthrown dark clay coated with a white matte glaze. This is the last piece of a series of twelve. Maybe I keep it for my house and my flowers: I am sure all potters know the feeling when a favourite work is gone, it is often followed from a kind of emptiness. That is why I keep a work from time to time because I try to avoid this feeling. Silly, I know….

Teacups coated with a green celadon craquele glaze – there are always some of these in my shop because I love them very much: I started with this shape more then ten years ago and it is still one of my favourites and I think it is a timeless classic. I also make them in porcelain or in a black clay as well as in regular stoneware in different colors: In a warm brown, an ice blue and in the green you see on the pic.

My Japan trip comes to an end: Last day in Tokyo with three of my teacups, an iron black one, a translucent porcelain one and a celadon green one. I spent very interesting days in Japan and met wonderful people around, drunk a lot of tea and coffee as well and and and….. I really hope to come back one day: Million thanks to all the Japanese, you are just great!

I made twenty teabowls with a stoneware clay and coated them with this wonderful white and matte glaze: Here you can see one of my favourite bowls. All of them have more or less the same shape but with minimal differences because I am not working with a measure instrument but only with my intuition. Today I was very happy to drink my afternoon tea from one of my new tea bowls.

The kitchen in my house has a copper cover and I am absolutely in love with the porcelain bowl on it: The bowl – as usual – is handthrown with limoges porcelain and very white and clear. You can fill in quite everything: Tea, coffee, icecream, nuts, a little plant – it is up to you!

Another scene from the ‘new’ old house I am renovating as a pottery and gallery in the South of Switzerland: This small cupboard is now cleaned! It was hard work but fortunately I had help…. and offers now a beautiful place for a big bowl, handthrown in stoneware and coated with an dark iron glaze. There are a lot of special spaces in this building and I am happy to show you some of them also in the future.

Teatime after a first renovation step: These two teabowls are very very delicate, so delicate that they seemed to have a light within – they are so translucient and fine. Handthrown porcelain at its very best, done with white porcelain from Limoges. To throw and trim so extremely fine is a work that needs all my experience of more than 20 years and a lot of concentration. One of the details in my ‘new’ house that I started to renovate: It is a very old building from 1589 and it is on the south side of Sitzerland. Some of the walls are black from the smoke of the open fires, I really love it! Two monks were living there more than four hundred years ago and next year it is me who will live and work there with my pottery, at least part time.

Done! All 68 teabowls are trimmed and in about four days they will be ready for the bisquit firing. It was quite a lot of throwing……I worked with four different stoneware clays and with a white and black porcelain: I am very very curious especially about the result from the black porcelain because it is the first time I am working with.
