May I introduce? My best work so far: Edition masterpiece, 2015. A tea bowl, handthrown in white porcelain. I was absolutely in love with it. Unfortumately, two years ago, this bowl was sold when I was not in my studio: It was a mistake because I never wanted to sold it. I am still sad when I think about. At least I have this picture: I normally have no problems to let go my work but this bowl was so special for me, I worked for hours on all the lines and I went to my limits and also to the limit of the material – some parts were so thin and they were not broken during the firing. In the upcoming days I will go back to one of my passion and start with things around tea. It was not always a passion, around twenty years ago I had no idea that teabowls exist….but when I made my first one – as an exercise when I learnt to throw – I started reading uncountable books about tea, tea ceremony, teahouses etc. You might know that I was trained as an architect and philosopher before I started my days behind a potter wheel. So I love reading. I still do. These days I was reading ‚the buried giant‘ by Kazuo Ishiguro. A brilliant book with an unforgettable end….and with a very interesting main topic. Read it! On the photo: A tea bowl in stoneware, hand thrown and coated with an extraordinary black glaze that looks magic. This one is sold – but soon I have new ones available in my studio.
