Sitting on a stone table at the South side of Switzerland where I also life and work. To have two different living and working places seems for me a privilege. It is calmer and wider in the mountains and sometimes I really like that. But at the end, my heart is beating for a city life and I would love to live in a big city. Still dreaming. #helgaritschceramics #me #portrait #scene #studio #blackandwhite #mountains #sitting #table #thinking #village #city #ceramics #ceramic #dreaming #thinkbig #artist #photography #photo #pictureoftheday Likes: [igp-likes]... 19 September, 2019

Me in Tokyo – for the new followers from the last month, thank you! My short CV and an ‚artist statement‘ to answer to your questions about my background – at least some of the questions, the easy ones about dates and education: The main focus of my work in porcelain and stoneware is the visual search for simplicity, serenity and beauty. Before I started my five years education as a ceramic artist, I built an academic background in Architecture, Art History and Philosophy and made then the bridge to craft. I am a quality worker not a quantity one: My work needs its time, sometimes a lot. CV: Born in Switzerland – but without a Swiss passport. I started my work as an independent ceramic artist in 1998 without a wheel. 2001-2006: Apprenticeship for ceramist with Master ceramist Mathies Schwarze, Germany. Wheel throwing. 1989-1995: Course of studies at the University of Zurich . Art History/German Philology/Philosophy (today M.A.) 1987-1989: Cours of studies at ETH Zurich . Me, dirty and tired in my studio house on the South of Switzerland. I was cleaning the studio for hours and it was probably not the best time to take a picture….But anyway: My short CV and an ‚artist statement‘ to answer to your questions about my background: The main focus of my work in porcelain and stoneware is the visual search for simplicity, serenity and beauty. Me, in my studio house on the South side of Switzerland. The ones who are following me for some time already (thank you so much btw) know my way to ceramics, for the other ones who are often asking about it: My short CV and an ‚artist statement‘ . Monday morning scene at THE APARTMENT in Zurich where I show my work in my personal word: I am there for you on Saturdays by appointment. This is one of the big white stoneware bowls on the photo, in front of a great picture from Flurin. Let me know if you are interested in visiting THE APARTMENT: You will find all information about my spaces – THE SHOP, THE APARTMENT, THE ATELIER and THE HOUSE – on my new website, www.helga-ritsch.ch. #ceramics #photography #pottery #white #artist #bowl #zen #design #art #crafts #contemporaryart #making #simple #apartment #working #series #portrait #stilllife #zurich #switzerland #shop #photooftheday #exhibition #bowls #japan #picoftheday #scenery #interiordesign #architecture #monday Likes: [igp-likes]... 07 August, 2017

Me 3 and the last one: I am in Venice as every year and my days here are full of memories, f.e. when my father bought one of these gondolas for me when I was a little girl – about 40 years ago. He died when I was in my twenties. This photography is from the beautiful exhibition ‘Intuition’ at the palazzo Fortuny – I make a clay ball for the ‘ Archive of Mind’ 2017 by Kimsooja. She is a great korean artist. In October, my work will be part of an exhibition in Hong Kong and the organization team want me to send them a portrait: It was a new experience for me that I am ‘on stage’ and not my bowls…..It was on the last day before I left to Venice when we made this one – about hundreds others. I think I will send it to them.
