I am happy to give you a glimpse into my summer studio where I will be working in July and August. I will be there from July 18 to August 15 and you can visit me on Fridays 12-6 and any time by appointment. Please note that during this period my Zurich based studio is open only by appointment. I will work in the same way as in Zurich, but I plan some small events in addition like a ‚tea salon‘ with my friend @natasha.vaidya on a Saturday in July or August. My summer studio is a very old house from the 16th century with its own character and it is only basically renovated. I will present my own work – also as a work in progress because I am working there at the wheel and every week the setting will change – and my small private art collection with some wonderful iron works from my friend @motomu_oyama and small paintings f.e. from @gabriele_herzog or a big cartoon series from P.R. and others. I am still planning my summer weeks in the studio. Of course I will offer tea and coffee in my own cups and you can visit my four rooms full of books, ceramics, painting, photos. I will be there with a lot of time especially on Fridays. My summer studio is in Soazza, a small and beautiful village in Switzerland, near Bellinzona and you could enjoy a nice day there. My short CV and an ‚artist statement‘ to answer to your questions about my background – at least some of the questions, the easy ones about dates and education: The main focus of my work in porcelain and stoneware is the visual search for simplicity, serenity and beauty. Before I started my five years education as a ceramic artist, I built an academic background in Architecture, Art History and Philosophy and made then the bridge to craft. I am a quality worker not a quantity one: My work needs its time, sometimes a lot. CV: Born in Switzerland – but without a Swiss passport. I started my work as an independent ceramic artist in 1998 without a wheel. 2001-2006: Apprenticeship for ceramist with Master ceramist Mathies Schwarze, Germany.
